Jonathan J. F. Sykes was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and was educated at De La Salle College, Jersey.
In 2014, he joined the Société Jersiaise, a learned society, in an administrative and research capacity where he led on efforts to digitise source material, and supported the work of the Librarian and Field Archaeologist.
Influenced by visiting academics, he founded Anthropos in 2015 as a platform for independent historical works.
In 2016, he began reading BA History with Royal Holloway, University of London, via correspondence, and in 2017 joined the Ministry of External Relations, Government of Jersey, working first with the Brexit Unit, and second, the Global Markets Directorate.
He is a life member of the Galton Institute, a member of the Société Jersiaise, and a member of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland.
