Jonathan J. F. Sykes, the Founder of Anthropos, was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and was educated at De La Salle College, Jersey.
In 2014, he found employment with the Société Jersiaise, the Island’s learned society, in an administrative and research capacity, where he led on efforts to digitise some 12,000 pieces of source material, and supported the work of the Librarian and Field Archaeologist.
Influenced by visiting academics, he founded Anthropos in 2015 as a platform for independent historical works.
In 2016, he began reading BA History (Hons) with Royal Holloway, University of London, via correspondence, and in 2017 joined the Ministry of External Relations, States of Jersey, working first with the Brexit Unit, and second, the Global Markets Directorate.
He is a life member of the Galton Institute, a member of the Société Jersiaise, and the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland.
He is due to complete his degree in May 2019.
