In June and July of 2019, Anthropos intends to deploy to the village of Seixal, Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, to undertake an initial scoping project of the surrounding landscape.
The plot of land, in private ownership, is approximately 660 square meters. It is un-fallowed, and for centuries has been utilised, unsurprisingly, as farmland.
Aims of the Project
- Identify the stratification of the landmass, and surrounding area;
- Present evidence, if any, of agricultural activity dating to the time of settlement by Portuguese colonialists.
